Summer is finally here! It’s time to get outside, enjoy the sunshine, and spend quality time with your friends and family during the longest days of the season. If you’re looking for something to do in our beautiful county and love relaxing to the sound of live music, then you’re in luck. We have a few municipal bands that play weekly for your listening pleasure!
Head over to Highland, Edwardsville, or Alton (or all 3!) to soak in beautiful live music with your friends and family! All you need is a lawn chair or a picnic blanket – these concerts are totally free!
Here are more details on these 3 great bands. Be sure to check out at least 1 concert this summer – you won’t be disappointed!
Highland Municipal Band – Start your weekend off right by going to the Highland Muny Band’s concerts every Friday night at 8 p.m. from June 16 until August 11! The concerts take place at the Plaza Square. There’s plenty of space to sprawl out with a blanket under the trees or enjoy the music on one of the park’s many benches as the park’s fountain flows in iridescent colors in the background. You can also purchase water or popcorn at the concession stand for only $1!
Edwardsville Municipal Band – Come out Thursday nights at 8 p.m. starting June 8 until August 24 to enjoy a tradition that stretches all the way back to 1843! Savor beautiful music at the Edwardsville City Park at the Cleaon Etzkorn bandstand next to the library and watch the fireflies dance around you as dusk falls.
Alton Municipal Band – Thursday nights at 8 p.m. is the place to be if you’re around Alton! Come out to Riverview Park starting June 8 to enjoy concert band music, marches, pop pieces, and more from the Alton Municipal Band. This picturesque park is the perfect place to savor summer nights with a view of the Mighty Mississippi in the background.
