While Edwardsville is brimming with several restaurants that serve delicious food to hungry customers, there is one on Main Street that has everyone talking and coming back for more – 222 Artisan Bakery! This cozy local eatery isn’t just making waves with their house-made bread, tantalizing entrees, and divine pastries – they’re making the news with their recent expansion.
Owned by Kimberly Goodner and her son, Trevor Taynor, the bakery – known colloquially as Artisan – just expanded into the space next door when their neighbor Plowshares downsized. Artisan seized the opportunity to expand and began making big changes this summer, adding 40 seats, a meeting space, and a new cold case that is used for displaying quiche, fruit pastries, and more.
While the menu hasn’t change nor has the kitchen expanded, there are many great changes and additions that you can enjoy when you come in to Artisan! When you walk in the door, you will notice their children’s area in the front. The restaurant plans on hosting a kid’s corner story time after the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays; parents will be welcomed to come in after the market and enjoy a coffee while their children listen to a story.
Are you a local student or take courses off-campus? Artisan has recently installed multiple outlets so you can plug in your laptop and keep it charged while you study or type out your latest paper for class. The restaurant also put in one long table, which faces the wall and is perfect for students who want to sit and study without many distractions.
If you’re a business owner or an employee of a business that wants to have a meeting over a delicious lunch, the restaurant now has a room for you to meet in while you enjoy your food and discuss business. Additionally, they now have folding screens to block off a few tables for smaller groups to enjoy!
Oh, and if you love pizza, you’ll want to make your way over to Artisan on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights for their new Pizza Nights! The eatery will begin hosting their Pizza Nights soon, so stay tuned to find out when they will begin and make plans to be there!
For a wide variety of breakfast fare, a scrumptious lunchtime special, fantastic pizza, or sweet and savory desserts, you’ll definitely want to come visit Artisan at 222 N. Main St.! Stop by and see what all of the commotion is about! You can also check out their menu online at www.222bakery.com.
