When hundreds of new jobs are added to an area, it causes a great deal of excitement. That’s exactly what’s happening in our very own Madison County this year! Amazon, the popular online commerce and cloud computing company, is coming to Madison County and is bringing at least 500-600 jobs with them!
Although local officials and Amazon have remained pretty hush-hush about this, Amazon has sought approval for city permits and will be starting out with one warehouse and 500-600 employees and two more warehouses that are currently “on contract.” The two additional commerce centers in Madison County include the Gateway Commerce Center and Lakeview Commerce Center. These centers are located near the interstates and other major thoroughfares and have easy access for employees and direct access to a Union Pacific railroad as well!
This welcomed addition to Madison County has the region brimming with excitement! In fact, Matt Jones, the assistant director of the Madison County Employment and Training Office, said that his group is working closely with Amazon on creating job fair dates, which could happen in July. There will be an official notice released before the job events occur, so be sure to keep tabs with us to find out when they will happen!
Amazon is currently aiming to begin operations in Madison County this fall. Presently, they are remodeling the inside of their building to fit their needs and are getting ready to open their doors. You can find job postings based in Edwardsville on their company website, including positions such as Onsite Medical Representative, Regional Transportation Manager, Loss Prevention Specialist, and more!
We don’t know about you, but we are thrilled to have Amazon bring their jobs here to our awesome county!
